Bård Secures Challenge Tour Card for 2025
7 November 2024
The journey to earn a place on the DP World Tour continued for Bård this fall, as he and his caddie, Peder, headed to Spain for the final qualifying stage. The marathon-style tournament stretched over several days and showcased both success and challenges for Bård on his path to success.
Bård and Peder kicked off preparations with a steady -3 round on the first practice day. With four birdies, one bogey, and the rest pars, it was a promising start as Bård showed his usual consistency. On the second practice day, Bård delivered another solid performance, again scoring -3 with four birdies and one bogey, further boosting confidence before the tournament began.
The opening day of the tournament brought tougher conditions. An unusual and very unfortunate incident on a par-five saw Bård’s second shot land and stay in a tree, resulting in an unlucky triple bogey. Despite this setback, Bård delivered a strong recovery, highlighted by an eagle, and finished the day with a respectable round.
On the second tournament day, Bård faced some frustration as he struggled with a cold putter. Peder reported that many putts came heartbreakingly close to dropping. Nevertheless, Bård kept his head in the game and continued his steady play.
Play on the third day came to a halt as authorities closed the course due to severe weather warnings. Safety remained the top priority after the region’s recent catastrophic storms. Play was rescheduled to resume the following morning, giving the players a much-needed rest day.
The fourth day turned out to be a game-changer. After a nerve-wracking final stretch, Bård delivered a fantastic -4 round, making the cut, and securing his place in the next stage of the marathon tournament. Even more exciting, this result officially qualified Bård for the Challenge Tour in 2025! Peder shared that Bård played incredibly solid golf, hitting 16 out of 18 greens. While several putts narrowly missed, the -4 score was enough to surpass the cut and secure the tour card.
With two more days of competition remaining, Bård was still fighting for a DP World Tour card, but qualifying for the Challenge Tour is already a huge achievement. Everything else from this point forward is a bonus! Speaking with Bård and Peder after the round, their relief and excitement were palpable. Peder praised Bård’s unwavering focus and solid performance, which was key to today’s success.
Congratulations to Bård for securing his Challenge Tour card for 2025! We’re excited to see what lies ahead and will keep you updated as the journey continues. What an incredible performance!
